BIZ: Sports Club Hopes its Social Mixers Find an Audience
Hey, yuppies. Y'all looking for a sporting social club? Biz has what you need. TRI Sports has been formed, offering co-ed sports leagues, tournaments, extreme sports trips, weekend getaways, golf tournaments and parties.
The club will launch its doings with a volleyball tournament and kickoff party on Saturday, July 28 an all-day affair that'll cost you 28 buckaroos if you're not a member; 21 if you are.
Club President Danny Lefebvre hails from Durham's Fusion Ventures, the troubled business incubator. There, he dealt with marketing, research and due diligence, but he also played a role in organizing Fusion's deck party mixers. Lefebvre, who has been in the Triangle about four years, says TRI Sports grew out of talk about how hard it can be to meet new people outside of work.

One bright spot, speaking of Fusion Ventures -- and they did throw good deck parties -- alumus Danny Lefebvre has moved on to the next venture.
A Friday afternoon e-mail message alerted former deck-party fans of a new social club for young professionals, TRI Sports. The group ($10 per person for individual memberships) will arrange co-ed sports leagues and tournaments, trips, weekend getaways, golf outings, happy hours, theme parties and networking events.

GET A DATE, DRINK SOME BEER, & GET SOME EXERCISE AT THE SAME TIME
A new organization has been started to help busy tech professionals do things that they normally don't have time to do - like get some exercise and meet new people.
Triangle Sports Social Club (www.TriSSC.com) was started by Dan Lefebvre, who formerly was in charge of putting on the Fusion Ventures Deck Parties.
TriSSC is forming sports leagues and social events that cater to the young professionals in the Triangle. After throwing a kick-off bash at Jillian's in Raleigh in late July, the club is now scheduling league games in softball, soccer, ultimate frisbee, and volleyball for the fall. They also have social events and trips, like a cruise to the Bahamas, scheduled for November.
